Beauty in Boulder

Beauty surrounds us all- it’s everywhere.  Some believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I’m convinced beauty resides within our souls.

Beauty holds many definitions. It has a multitude of perspectives.  It might be defined by experiences, sights or visions, feelings, words, thoughts or even by nature.

I’m writing this in Boulder, CO.  As I witness the snow-capped mountains, I witness exquisite beauty.

I’m surrounded by beauty, immersed in it.

Eldorado Canyon has amazing views and the hiking is incredible!

I find the challenge of the icy trails and the change in altitude beautiful.  The experience of the mountain trails left me feeling alive and grateful.  To me, that’s beauty.

My eyes saw vibrant blue sky and wispy clouds above majestic mountain tops.  I pondered the pines that grow on the rock ledges of the mountain.  What an amazing feat that is!

I felt the warmth of the sun upon my face and the coolness of the snow melt waters I hiked through.  My pant legs, hiking boots and socks absorbed the snow melt and I was reminded of how beautiful the sensation of being warm and dry feels after a muddy, wet hike.

I heard the water make its way down to lower ground as the birds sang and squawked because I was in their territory.

Altitude is an attitude adjustment.  The higher I hiked the harder my lungs worked to breathe.  It was a beautiful reminder of being alive and healthy enough to have the experience.  I’m grateful and fortunate.

Beauty is expressed and perceived through art, poetry, sounds, etc.

Nature expresses herself in her own music, visual arts and the emotions she creates.  I’m thrilled to be taking this all in!

Shifting perspective to receive beauty in all its different forms creates a unique awareness and allows amazing growth and transcendence.  Shifting to become who we’re meant to be while we’re here is beautiful.

Like the white, wispy clouds floating above the mountain tops, we move.  We shift. We change form until we’re no longer visible as we were.  How beautiful is that?

The Navajo Blessing sums it up for me…

In Beauty I walk.

With Beauty before me, I walk.

With Beauty behind me, I walk.

With Beauty above me, I walk.

With Beauty around me, I walk.

It has become Beauty again.

Today I will walk out.

Today, everything negative will leave me.

I will be as I was before.

I will have a cool breeze over my body.

I will have a light body.

I will be happy forever.

Nothing will hinder me.

I walk with beauty before me.

I walk with beauty behind me.

I walk with beauty below me.

I walk with beauty above me.

I walk with beauty around me.

My words will be beautiful.

In beauty all day long may I walk.

Through the returning seasons, may I walk.

On the trail marked with pollen, may I walk.

With dew about my feet, may I walk.

With beauty before me, may I walk.

With beauty behind me, may I walk.

With beauty below me, may I walk.

With beauty above me, may I walk.

With beauty all around me, may I walk.

In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk.

In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk.

My words will be beautiful.
